A Fall Letter from the Prioress, Sister Catherine Nehotte, OSB

Dear Friends,

As we embark on this new fiscal year, I want to express my gratitude for the blessings that continue to enrich our monastic community. May this year be one of peace, joy, and spiritual growth for all, and may our community continue to be a source of enrichment for those who seek peace and relationship. In keeping with our tradition of offering a place for spiritual reflection and community engagement, we have planned several special events for 2024.

On October 5, we invite you to join us for the Blessing of the Animals. This ecumenical event is a wonderful opportunity to bring your beloved pets for a blessing and to contribute to Tubman’s Harriet’s Haven, a refuge for animals whose owners have experienced relationship violence.

In November, we will commemorate All Souls’ Day with a candlelight prayer and blessing of the faithfully departed and our sacred grounds. We begin the Season of Advent on November 27. Details for a retreat on December 7 will be announced soon.

We conclude the year with our annual Christmas at the Monastery fundraiser with events taking place the week of December 7-14. This year’s festivities include a Wine Tasting & History with Haskell’s on December 10, a Cookies & Carols celebration on December 12, and a Closing Celebration on December 14, featuring a special meal, Trivia Mafia, and the conclusion of our Silent Auction.

We warmly invite you to join us for these special events and to experience the peace and tranquility of our monastic community. Your presence and support are invaluable to us as we continue our mission of prayer, work, and hospitality.

With gratitude and blessings,

Sister Catherine Nehotte, OSB, Prioress
