Are you a woman navigating the silent ache of having lost your mother—whether recently or many years ago? At St. Paul’s Monastery, we warmly invite you to “A Time to Remember: A Retreat for Women Whose Mothers Have Died.” Sponsored by Loyola Spirituality Center, this thoughtfully-crafted overnight gathering offers a gentle space for reflection, healing, and connection.

Over the span of one evening and the following day, you’ll step away from the noise of everyday life to honor the depth of your loss—and the many ways your mother’s life, presence, absence, and influence ripple through your story. As the retreat page notes: “Whether our mother died this year or thirty years ago, we grieve… some of us grieve what we had and some of us grieve what never was in our relationship with our mother.”
Facilitated by Spiritual Director Linda Cherek, whose own journey through profound loss shapes her work, the experience is framed in safety, respect, and sacred regard.
You’ll find:
- A private, welcoming atmosphere where each story is held with care
- Guided prompts and shared reflections for touching the places of sorrow, memory, and hope
- A chance to feel the presence of your mother and connect with other women who carry similar longings
If you’ve felt alone in your grief, or if the relationship with your mother remains an unfinished conversation in your heart, it’s time to pause—and remember—to breathe—and heal. Space is intimate and limited to just ten participants, ensuring a meaningful and personal experience.
Please consider registering today and gifting yourself this sacred pause. Your story matters. Your grief matters. Your healing matters. We look forward to welcoming you.
The retreat is Friday, October 31 through Saturday, November 1 at the beautiful campus of St. Paul’s Monastery.
