Evenings with the Saint John’s Bible: Incarnation Series

December 4 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Visio Divina with The Saint John’s Bible

Enter into the mystery of Scripture through sacred image, silence, and prayer.

Join us online for a contemplative experience of Visio Divina—“divine seeing”—using illuminations from The Saint John’s Bible. Together, we will prayerfully encounter images that draw us into the great themes of incarnation, justice, and messianic hope, allowing the beauty of Scripture to speak to both heart and imagination.

Each gathering will be gently facilitated, offering time to gaze, notice, listen, and rest with an illumination from The Saint John’s Bible. Rather than studying or analyzing the artwork, we will approach each image as an invitation to prayer: What draws my attention? What stirs within me? What might God be inviting me to see?

Ample space for silence and personal reflection will be woven throughout the experience, followed by a brief opportunity for shared reflection with the group.

No previous experience with Visio Divina or The Saint John’s Bible is necessary. Simply come with an open heart and a willingness to see anew.

This series is offered online via Zoom on Friday nights from November 27 (ahead of the 1st Sunday of Advent) through January 8 (ahead of the Baptism of the Lord)–so lasting the whole of the Incarnation liturgical season (Advent-Christmastide). We will not meet on Christmas Day.
